Set Start and Due Dates for Quizzes and Assignments

Welcome to Stukent! In this step-by-step guide, we’ll walk you through the process of setting start and due dates for assignments in the Instructor Portal. It won’t take long to prepare your course for the new semester, and this is a critical step for anyone seeking to integrate their Stukent materials into their institution’s LMS.

If it’s easier, you can watch a quick video tutorial on how to set your start dates, too!

Set Due Dates for Your Courseware

To set due dates for assignments and assessments in your courseware, log into your Stukent instructor account.

Navigate to your course in the left sidebar and click the Go to Admin button for your courseware.

The Stukent Instructor Portal will open to the Settings tab. This tab allows you to customize the quizzes and other assignments in your course, set due dates, and control the amount of feedback students receive on their work.

First, use the drop-down menu to select your time zone. Your time zone affects when quizzes are available to students, so it’s important to choose the correct one.

Next, use the Score Display for Students drop-down to indicate how you would like your students’ scores to be displayed, either as percentages or as points.

Beneath the Score Display drop-down, you’ll see a toggle marked “Display Student’s Selected Answers in Results.” When toggled on, this setting allows your students to see which questions they answered correctly or incorrectly in their results.

To set the number of quiz attempts students have, use the Number of quiz attempts allowed drop-down to give your students one, two, three, or unlimited attempts at their quizzes. If you allow multiple attempts, select a Scoring Preference, too.

You’re ready to set start and due dates for your courseware quizzes and assignments! To allow students to submit their work after the due date, toggle off Do Not Allow Post Due Date Submission.

All quizzes are set to active by default — you’ll need to toggle off any items that don’t fit your course objectives. For each quiz you keep active, you’ll need to set both the Open Date and Time and the Due Date and Time.

To set an Open Date, click the Select Date field.

Once the calendar opens, click a day and set a time using the 24-hour clock. When you’re finished, click Ok. Repeat this process for your Due Date and Time.

To enable a time limit for each quiz, click the checkbox under Time Limit and enter the number of minutes you would like to give students per attempt.

Set Open and Due Dates for all active quizzes in your course. When you’re finished, click Save All.

Set Start and Due Dates for Your Simternship

If you’ve included a Simternship in your course, you’ll need to set start dates for each round of the simulation, too.

From your instructor home page, navigate to your course in the left sidebar and click the Go to Admin button on your Simternship.

On the page that opens, use the dropdown menus to select your time zone and how your students’ scores will display. Like your courseware, scores can be displayed as percentages or as total points; however, these scores are not visible to students on the Stukent platform.

Click the Start Date fields to set a start date for each round. When you’re done, click the Save All button.

After you set your dates, you may need to set additional controls for the peer review components of your Simternship. Not all Stukent Simternships have peer review features, so you may not see this section.

Peer review settings are located beneath the round start dates table. Scroll down to the peer review section. You’ll see three options for peer review progression: Self-Paced Progression, Calendar-Stepped Progression, and Class-Paced Stepped Progression.

To view the pros and cons of each progression style, click More Details.

Next, select a peer review progression type and set the due dates for each activity. When you’re done, click the Save All button.
