The Stukent + DECA Social Media Marketing Challenge is an opportunity for your students to compete against other marketing students across the country. Using the Social Media Simternship™, students will be tasked with managing a fictitious bag company’s $5,000 weekly social media ad budget. Students will play through 4 rounds of our Social Media Simternship™ and learn about audience targeting, content scheduling, and promotion to drive product sales.
Please note:
Students cannot register themselves. Only one account is allowed per participant. Students who create a second account will be automatically disqualified from the competition.
Since every student has the opportunity to participate in the challenge with free access to the Social Media Simternship, all challenge participants are required to submit their own simulations. Students are not permitted to compete in group settings or use more than one account.
Instructors and Advisors only:
- Please select the link here to register: https://www.stukent.com/stukent-deca-challenge/
- The first form you receive will be the registration for you as an advisor.
- Once you register, you will receive an email with information on how to sign up students as well as guidelines.
- In this email, there will be a link on registering each student. If by chance they don't receive the email to join the course, you can provide them the link to join the course that was provided in your initial email sign-up as an advisor.
Participants will compete in one (1) organic posting round, one (1) paid posting round, and two (2) combined organic and paid rounds within the simulation, after which the top participants will be vetted and their posts reviewed by a panel of judges.
Challenge Guidelines
- Each participant must be a registered DECA member of a high school chapter at the time of registration.
- Please have your students use their school emails when registering for the challenge.
- Students cannot register themselves; if a student wishes to participate, his or her DECA advisor must register on behalf of the student.
- Once the advisor submits the student’s registration request, the advisor will receive an email that includes the link to the challenge. The advisor will then forward the email to his or her student(s) to complete the registration.
- DECA membership will be verified for all winners. Entries with incomplete information or students who are not registered DECA members will be disqualified.
- Any students who do not complete each round in its entirety will be disqualified from the challenge.
- Any form of cheating (or suspicion thereof) will not be tolerated. Forms of cheating include, but are not limited to:
- Registering and competing using more than one account
- Plagiarizing: using another person’s work and claiming it as your own
- Collaborating with one or more people, whether they are also participating or not. This includes participating in a group setting under a single account.
- Posting the same or strikingly similar content repeatedly.
The Stukent Social Media Marketing Challenge will begin October 1, 2024, and end December 1, 2024.
