What is Course Copy?
Course Copy is a fundamental feature in Learning Management Systems (LMS) like Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, and Brightspace. It allows instructors and administrators to duplicate existing course materials and structures from a past semester or template into a new, upcoming course shell.
Rather than building a course from scratch every term, course copy acts as a "clone" tool to maintain continuity and save dozens of hours of setup.

What does the Stukent Course Copy feature copy?
In the automatic process, it will copy the deeplinks(replaces them with the new links), Gradebook items, Point Values, Categories, and Placements in modules, pagers, and folders.
When do you use the Automatic Process vs. the Manual Process?
Automatic - The automatic process is great if you are using the exact same materials and version of our materials while also keeping your customization of product settings copied from the original course.
Manual - The manual process is great if you are looking to change the version of the courseware or simulation to the newest version. Additionally, if you are adding or removing any materials for your new course.
Please keep in mind that with the manual process, we are unable to remove links within Blackboard. These old links will need to be manually removed.
Does Course Copy replace deeplinks in modules/pages that are copied over?
Yes! Any deeplinks you have within your modules/page/folders will be replaced with the new links when you use the Automatic Course Copy feature.
Can an Admin make a blueprint course or master course to copy into courses for other instructors?
Yes! First, admins will create a master or blueprint course in the LMS and link the Stukent tool, ensuring all assignments and gradebook settings are configured exactly as desired before copying.
Next, the admin will copy this master template into the instructors' individual LMS course shells. From there, instructors can use our Course Copy steps for their LMS to generate their Stukent course materials, choosing either the automatic or manual setup process.
If you run into any issues during this process, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager with a brief summary of the steps you've taken so we can investigate right away.
I want to use the newest version of the courseware. Can I still copy my course?
With our courseware, we generally update the materials annually. This helps our materials stay up to date and current for your courses. However, if you are copying a course in your LMS with an older version of the courseware and would like to use the new materials, we recommend using the Manual Course Copy process. This will allow you to link a new course using the newest materials and remove the old links.
Please keep in mind that with the manual process, we are unable to remove links within Blackboard. These old links will need to be manually removed.
Troubleshooting
Why are my old links still there?
If you are using Blackboard, unfortunately, we are unable to remove links on this LMS platform. This will occur when using the manual process. However, you can manually remove those old links.
If you started the automatic process and then selected the manual process(vice versa), this can cause confusion in those links. If you would like to go the manual process, we recommend manually removing them and then re-generating the assignments for your new course.
If you want the automatic process and your links are not working properly, we recommend removing them and regenerating them with the Stukent Content Manager.
I received the error in Canvas: Linking Error Occurred. Unable to complete the manual process. Please try again. If you continue to experience issues, contact Stukent customer support.
What should I do next?
You can generally resolve this error by refreshing your browser page entirely and then selecting the Manual Course Copy process once more. If you still encounter this error, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager or our support team.
I received the error in Canvas: Linking Error Occurred. Unable to create or link the new Stukent course to Canvas. Please try again. If you continue to experience issues, contact Stukent customer support.
What should I do next?
We recommend first refreshing your browser and trying again. If you still receive this error, this usually requires some additional investigation by our support team. Please reach out to your Customer Success Manager with the steps taken so far. If possible, we also recommend getting your JWT and Location URL to help us troubleshoot.

I am not using the course copy feature, and I see a message on my Stukent tool asking me to start the course copy process. What should I do?
