This article the ins and outs of Perks within the Personal Finance Simulation.
Perks can be added to Rentals, Homes, and Cars.
To create a Perk:
- Select Class Culture on the left-hand side
- Select Perks
- Select Add New Perk
- Here you can choose the Image, Title, Perk options, and active status.
Keep in mind that only the pre-made Life Redraws and Multiple Life redraws and unreplicable. However, you can edit them with the pencil icon.
Also, please keep in mind that the only automated perks are Absence Fees Forgiven, Tardy Fees Forgiven, and Free Stock.
Why aren't the multiple redraws working?
The “Multiple Redraw” is only available as a perk and allows students who own an asset with this perk to use multiple redraw vouchers during Life Happens games. It does not give students multiple vouchers in the system. It only allows them to use more than one per game. The student must still buy vouchers in advance.
Are perks automated within the simulation?
It just depends on the perks. The premade multiple-life redraws will automatically be applied (keep in mind they will still need to purchase redraws). Other automated perks are Absence Fees Forgiven, Tardy Fees Forgiven, and Free Stock.
Why aren't my perks appearing on houses and cars?
You'll want to make sure your Perks are active before enabling cars and housing. You'll need to make sure your Perks are active by going to Class Culture>Perks> To the right of the Perk, there will be a check or inactive symbol.
If they aren't appearing, you may remove them with the red X and re-import them.
What's the point of the Perks?
Perks associated with major purchases create the emotional component of a student’s decision to purchase. The importance of this cannot be understated. Again, every decision is a learning opportunity.
Am I able to view the Perks given to each student?
At this time, no. However, many teachers will create an in-class jobs and have a student keep track of Perks and/or Life Happens items.
